Overview
A look at a successful installation of an "Active Harmonic Filter" at a Plastic Injection Moulding Factory.
The Challenge
Loss of Equipment / machinery due to high levels of harmonics.
The Solution
Implementation of a 100A AHF filter. After it was identified that there were high levels of harmonics. It was decided that a 100A AHF unit would solve the issues.
The Results
After the installation and commissioning, it was noted that all the disturbing harmonics were removed from the system. This was evident in both the Waveform and Spectrum options on the HMI.
Summary
Highs:
Readings before the AHF was installed – High – 66.6%
Readings after the AHF was installed – High – 14.7%
Averages:
Readings before the AHF was installed – Average – 21.8%
Readings after the AHF was installed – Average -7.3% across the two samples.

Late 2020 we started seeing an increase in Electronic component failure in our plant which was averaging 200k a month in breakdowns. I contacted Pinnaculum as they came highly recommended to ask for guidance. They advised me to set up Data logging on our feed DB. On receiving the data print outs we could see the was evidently a Harmonic issue. Pinnaculum specially designed this unit for us and since installation we have had no issues on any of our electronic components. I have full faith that they found the root cause and gave me the best possible solution to our issues. Thanks Pinnaculum for all your assistance.
